"Extraordinary Measures"

Bottom Line: Harrison Ford is always watchable in this otherwise routine tear-jerker.

Since "Extraordinary Measures," a tremulous medical drama about a father trying to save the lives of his children, is the first feature released by the newly constituted CBS Films, it's all too tempting to describe the piece as a TV movie, reminiscent of those disease-of-the-week affairs that used to clog the tube.

It seems strange to say Harrison Ford is underrated as an actor; he is, after all, the No. 1 worldwide box-office star of all time, with a roster of hit films and franchises whose audiences cross all age and gender lines. He created two of the most recognizable and beloved icons in film history: space cowboy Han Solo in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, and the wisecracking, whip-snapping, fedora-sporting Indiana Jones.
